Welcome to Kent & Medway Independent Visitors Service

Welcome to the official web-site for the Kent and Medway Independent Visitors Service. This regional service provides volunteers to act as befrienders to young people in care who have little or no meaningful contact with their families.

This site offers information to prospective volunteers about the unique volunteering opportunity that the service offers and introduces the role of the independent visitor. There is also a members' area for existing volunteers to swap ideas and stories, offer each other support and comment on their experiences in the role.

Pages for social workers and other care professionals is a useful resource and we welcome you to visit this section of the site. There is also a page dedicated to young people who may be interested in having an independent visitor.
